Trinity Church at 503 Asbury Ave in Asbury Park has been hosting a Saturday Soup Kitchen every week for around 25 years and we feed 300 - 400 people each week. We recently have decided to stop using plastic utensils for a few reasons:
1.)It would make our guests feel more at home as they are eating their meals with real utensils instead of the small awkward plastic ones.
2.)It would be a gift to our planet to use less plastic and/or throw away, one time use items.
3.)it would be cost effective for our soup kitchen budget to wash the silverware instead of always buying more boxes of the plastic utensils.
We can use anything that you have laying around that you forgot you have! You can bring them directly to Trinity at the above address on Tuesday through Friday from 10 AM to 12 noon (these are our decreased summer hours) or is you are unable to drop them off at Trinity you can leave whatever you have on the front patio chairs or table at 99 Mount Tabor Way in Ocean Grove (24/7) It is a brown house with a blue door and does not have a ground floor porch. It is west of Pennsylvania Ave and just east of New Jersey Ave and Mt Tabor Way runs
east to west like Main Ave and is two blocks north of Main Ave.
