This is the fourth Telecaster I’ve purchased from Billy Penn, and it’s honestly one of my favorites.
The guitar is completely stock, built by Billy himself. I originally planned to send it out for a Glaser B-Bender install, but circumstances didn’t allow it—and now some personal situations are forcing me to let it go.
Billy’s builds are inspired by early ’50s Teles. This one features a comfortable soft V neck profile and a roasted maple neck that feels incredible in your hands. The pickups are Fender Custom Shop ’50s, which deliver that classic vintage Tele tone.
The guitar has light checking and a few small nicks—tastefully relic’d by Billy himself—giving it an authentic, broken-in feel right out of the case. I also had Billy install locking tuners.
I’ve owned Tom Anderson and Suhr Teles, and in my opinion, nothing compares to the feel of Billy’s guitars.
I fully plan on buying another one when things settle down, but for now this is a tough sale and priced accordingly.
