Cross posted from Philadelphia, I live in Philly but this is a piece of Asbury Park history and I am willing to deliver!
This is a more than 100 year old baritone sax. The person I bought it from in 2011 said it was a Buescher True Tone stencil, but it has been suggested to me that it could be a Martin. It has “Scott's Music Shop, Asbury Park, NJ” inscribed on the bell. It is in remarkable condition for its age. Four digit serial number: 68xx
This is beautiful looking and sounding saxophone and piece of local ish history. Its biggest draw back is that it is only keyed from Bb to Eb. That said, it has excellent overtone response.
I had it overhauled when I bought it and played it for 8 or so years in a variety of contexts. I have gotten great results with a variety of hard rubber mouthpieces but not so much with my metal Brilhart.
All but one or two of the pads are in good shape, I just play tested this again and it’s playing well all things considered. That said, you will likely want to have some work done.
Comes with a like new Gard case. I have a C* mouthpiece I’d sell as well but no ligature.
I am open to offers and trades. I’m interested in low clarinets and flutes, synths / keyboards, pedals, percussion stuff, instruments in general
