Position Title: Prep and Grill Cook
Reports To: Partners

Status: Exempt

Definition:
The Prep and Grill Cook is responsible for the oversight of all day-to-day aspects of the kitchen operations including, but not limited to, menu development, inventory management and food costs, daily food prep and cooking, personnel training and scheduling, and food safety and planning.

Relish of Belmar is seeking year-round culinary talent and customer service professionals! Seeking a sous chef, line and prep cooks for a small, scratch kitchen. This is not your average QSR, we make everything in house that we can! Cooks must be comfortable with all restaurant tasks, including prepping, grill cooking, and even helping customers at the counter. This is a chef driven concept created with low stress, high quality and fun in mind!

Minimum Qualifications:
A friendly, enthusiastic attitude
Be able to understand and articulate Relish's Food With Integrity philosophy
ServSafe certified
Oversee the preparation of safe and delicious food and maintain a clean, neat and organized restaurant
A creative approach to marketing
Someone that loves to develop and lead a team
Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (Bilingual a plus).
A team player who can jump in where needed
Previous restaurant experience

Physical & Mental Requirements:
The incumbent must possess strong communication (verbal/written), analytical, organizational,
strategic, time management, project management, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate a record of quantitative/analytical rigor, creative problem solving, technical challenges, and strategic execution
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and budgets
The incumbent must be able to perform duties involving standing, walking, sitting, talking, reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching
The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading
The incumbent must be able to lift a weight up to 40 pounds

Job Location:
Headquarters will be in the assigned building
Time of work may vary upon business needs

Principal Responsibilities:
Demonstrates advanced knowledge and ability, and can apply the competency in new or complex situations. Guides other professionals
Food Quality: Making sure great tasting, high quality food is served. Resolving food quality issues. Managing food safety which includes the following: ensuring hand washing and glove changes, monitoring time and temperature on the line, monitoring secondary shelf lives, and enforcing the Daily Food Safety Checklist and food safety policies and procedures.
Customer Interaction: Resolving customer incidents and working to ensure positive customer experiences.
Team Management: Managing crew breaks, shift changes, shift meetings, and line schedules. Developing and cross-training all front of house Crew. Assisting with Crew performance reviews and the resolution of performance issues. Training and developing future Service Managers.
Office Administration: Assisting with miscellaneous office administration duties such as: banking, cash handling policies and responsibilities, and office paperwork. Overseeing office equipment and making sure office supplies are ordered as necessary. Ensuring the proper quantity of supplies are available as needed. Troubleshooting back of house computers and POS system.
Miscellaneous: Ensuring the line and reach-in cooler are organized and clean. Managing daily and weekly cleaning of the line, dining room, restrooms, and patio. Assisting with the execution of marketing promotions.

Organizational Relationships:
The Prep and Grill Cook is supervised by the Partners for assignment, guidance, evaluation and problem-solving. Since there is daily telephone and in-person contact with internal and external customers, harmonious and cooperative behavior must be maintained.
